Active Orthopaedic is owned and operated by Adam
Janke, Certified Pedorthist, C Ped (C).
Our
Philosophy
At Active Orthopaedic we believe in an integrative
model of health care. We view ourselves as part
of the overall team of health practitioners you
can turn to when addressing your individual biomechanical
needs, be that coping with an injury or painful
symptom or when taking a preventative approach
to your health. Your feet are one of the most
important considerations when assessing your biomechanics,
but other variables must be taken into account
further up the kinetic chain, such as muscular
and fascial tension in your lower limbs, hip alignment,
muscular imbalances, and previous injuries. During
your assessment we analyze your entire biomechanical
chain, not just your feet. We ensure that any
factors requiring treatment or analysis by another
practitioner are identified and addressed. Through
our referral network of health practitioners within
the community, we ensure you have access to the
best services for your specific needs so you can
LIVE YOUR LIFE to the fullest.
About the Team
Adam
Janke, Certified Pedorthist, C Ped (C)
I graduated on the Dean’s List from the
University of Western Ontario with an Honours
Kinesiology degree, prior to beginning the two-year
clinical residency program that is required to
become a fully Certified Pedorthist, C Ped (C).
I have worked and consulted in clinics in Ottawa,
rural Ontario, Toronto, and Vancouver and been
exposed to a wide variety of clinical methods
and treatment protocols.
As a Canadian Board Certified Pedorthist, C
Ped (C), I specialize in assessing lower-limb
skeletal alignment, movement patterns, general
foot function and how the feet interact with the
rest of the body. From an assessment of these
factors I determine a person’s need for
custom foot orthotics, custom or therapeutic bracing
products, specialized or individually specific
footwear, soft-tissue management and referral
to other health practitioners where necessary.
For a more detailed description of what an assessment
entails, please refer to the Services
page.
I am an avid runner focusing primarily on trail
events. My most recent race was a 50 mile ultramarathon
in the Marin Headlands just outside of San Francisco,
CA.
